Where did you grow up?

I grew up in Elmhurst, which is a suburb of Chicago.

Who was your favorite teacher, and why?

I really appreciated learning from my high school AP Biology teacher. She was always there to encourage me, and created a comfortable and nurturing learning environment. She truly cared about her entire class, both as students and as people. I had the best time in that class, where we could ask questions, be curious, and work together to keep growing.

What inspired you to pursue a career in STEM/Healthcare?

I have always had an interest in healthcare, as the combination of science knowledge and ability to have a positive impact on the lives of others was the perfect combination of my interests and passions.

What do you do in your current role/career?

I am a healthcare consultant, which mean I help to address challenges faced by healthcare organizations. I work with a team to accomplish a united goal, and can be part of different healthcare projects to learn unique skills.

What were your moments of fear/challenges in your career?

I was initially nervous about deciding to pursue consulting, because I only found out about it during the spring of my Junior year of college. However, after talking with people in the industry and doing more research, it seemed like it was the right fit for someone like me looking for a dynamic, learning-focused, and exciting environment.

What are some of the innovations in science that you are most excited about?

There are so many exciting innovations coming out of the scientific field, but one I am most looking forward to medical developments, especially those that pertain to chronic illnesses like cancer. There are quite a few people in my family who have fought against cancer, and I am hopeful for what changes science can bring for the better.

What’s next for you?/What would you like to do when you “grow up’? (retire, etc.)/Whatis something you hope to accomplish in the future?

I am hopeful to one day live abroad in the UK, work in healthcare there, and learn about how a different healthcare system functions to better inform my perspective. I am still envisioning this transition and know I will need to make time and a conscious effort to push myself into new spaces to help me grow. I’m an Irish citizen so at least the visa obstacle is removed!

Current book/book you love?

I just read Miracle Creek, and I would recommend that one!

Favorite website/blog/”guilty pleasure”/fun?

I love following Blogilates and her workouts!
