What do you do every day?
I work at the intersection of art and healthcare. There is no reason why you need to wait to join healthcare! Your voice is valuable- even right now! I talk about national and global health policy and informatics- and I also paint about these things! Health is about every part of our lives.
Why do you love it?
I love the intersection of art and health information technology because I love how new and open they were to different things. That is really exciting for me, as an artist!
What were your moments of fear and challenges in your career?
I am sometimes in the position of being the only person in the room who is disruptive- the person who has to ask the tough questions! And I have to gather up the courage and do that, because it's important.
What are some of the latest innovations in science that you are most excited about?
Sensor technology - not just the fitness ones, but also self adhering heartbeat monitors or sensors in hospitals that help monitor patients without waking them up!
Where did you grow up?
Oklahoma
Who was your favorite teacher and why?
Mrs. Graham, in 4th grade, who created an individualized education plan for me and really designed a curriculum that matched my needs.
What is your unique talent?
I have the ability to paint about what I hear, in real time!
