New England, mostly RI and a little Boston.
Who was your favorite teacher, and why?
Mr. Chapman-my VocTech electronics teacher, he was so excited to have a girl in his class he treated me almost like a daughter and made sure I got all the help I needed, all the while helping the guys feel comfortable with my presence, so important as I found out later in life!!
What inspired you to pursue a career in STEM/Healthcare?
I loved electronics, biology, and helping people so when I found out about Biomedical Engineering during my college search I knew that was the path for me.
What were your moments of fear/challenges in your career?
Biggest challenge and fear was being told by the Dean of Engineering at Syracuse University, as I was trying to transfer in to the engineering school, that I wouldn’t make it as an engineer…I told him “try me”…and he did.
What are some of the innovations in science that you are most excited about?
I’m excited about the technology advances in many medical devices that have removed many human factor errors.
What’s next for you?/What would you like to do when you “grow up’? (retire, etc.)/ what is something you hope to accomplish in the future?
Next is helping to introduce the Ivenix Infusion pump to the world and as for when I “grow up”…continue my travels around the world…hopefully on dirt-bike and include stopping at health care clinics and teach them how to keep their equipment running.
