What do you do every day?
No two days are alike, but the majority of my role involves conducting research and writing grants for new research projects. I am also involved with mentoring medical students as well.
Why do you love it?
I am really interested in research that relates to improving patient care.
What were your moments of fear and challenges in your career?
Since my research depends on receiving grants, I have had moments of fear in my career when I was concerned about not getting funded.
What are some of the latest innovations in science that you are most excited about?
I am very interested in big data and new technologies in health care. Specifically, I am excited to see how we can use that data in medicine to directly improve patient care.
Where did you grow up?
Maryland.
Who was your favorite teacher and why?
My English teacher in high school, Ms. Time, challenged me to live up to my potential. At the time, I did not like her, but now I deeply appreciate how she pushed me to do my best work. In medical school, I was inspired by [double check on professor’s name] because she was very patient with her students, an excellent mentor, and incredibly enthusiastic. I was inspired by her own passion for her work.
What is your unique talent?
I really like writing scripts for videos that I create for medical education programs.
Is there a current book or book you love?
Currently, I am reading pregnancy books because I am expecting.
What is your favorite website or fun activity?
My guilty pleasure would be Hollywood gossip. As far as television shows, I am a fan of Revenge and Game of Thrones.
