What do you do every day?
I’m a serial entrepreneur and expert in the science of personalized health behavior change through digital tools. No two days are the same, but I generally am in a lot of client meetings or am heads down building stuff. So, my time is split between those buckets, either on site with clients or deep in the science and creating something.
Why do you love it?
I love what I do because I get to solve problems and have an impact.
What were your moments of fear and challenges in your career?
A big moment of fear was when I quit my stable, tenured, successful career as a professor to be an entrepreneur. I think the most important part of achieving success out of this was surrounding myself with faithful companions, who supported me on that journey. And the people I surrounded myself with were the most important part of being able to navigate that.
What are some of the latest innovations in science that you are most excited about?
For me it is the potential that technology has to increase reach and accessibility of things that weren’t. Such as, the ability of technology to expand reach and efficiency of solutions to address root causes of ill health.
Where did you grow up?
Central New York
Who was your favorite teacher and why?
My second grade teacher because it was when I remember loving and discovering science.

Who inspires you?
My daughter and her friends because of their belief in their abilities to make the world better.
What’s next for you?
I have no idea what I want to do when I “grow up” but I am in the process of figuring it out. One thing, I hope to do is continue to advance the field of digital health.
